Wear comfortable clothes and good sturdy athletic shoes. No sandals. No flip-flops.
There is no charge and it is held at SMS band room 6-9pm. Pick up aand drop off at the gym parking lot or Ferguson Ave bus loop. Dates are the ENTIRE week. Monday-Friday of August 16-20. If you have any instrument problems, needs, questions, please come EARLIER on your first day. Even if you cannot come on all days, please try to come at least part of the time!!! Please bring your summer band folder, your instrument, and a positive attitude!
“End of the Year stuff” Please NOTE: "Summer Lessons" and "Band Camp" are 2 separate events. See below for info. #1 FREE SUMMER LESSONS (see handouts distributed 5/21 or email Mr. W for phone numbers) I think we are going to have a very talented Warrior Band next year. BUT, it is a HUGE step up for sixth graders to go from Beginning Band to Warrior Band. And 7th graders now have to step up and become the 8th grade leaders. One thing that will help is to have as many students as possible take FREE summer lessons. All you have to do is have a parent call one of the teachers listed below, tell them you are from SMS, and make arrangements for days and times. They will make arrangements with me for payment. The more lessons you can take, the better!!! BUT, even if you can only fit in just a few lessons this summer, you and the band will benefit! Rhonda Martin or Sara Hurley* (flute) … Aaron Miller *(carinet, oboe, sax) … Steve Engel* (sax) …. Steve Eisen* (trumpet) … Joe Vasquez* (low brass) … Ray Ayala (percussion) ... I did not want to post their phone numbers online, email Mr W and I will send number to you! *teachers will give lessons at Nick Rail Music (NRM), on corner of Ming and Stine Note: Private teachers expect you to show up at the day and time agreed. They are setting aside time to be there for you (especially if they are meeting you at NRM). Although there are a few ecxeptions, failure to show up without giving at least 24 hours notice is NOT acceptable. Private teachers can and will bill me for lessons you miss without giving proper notification!!!! Please be courteous and responsible!

#3 SUMMER INSTRUMENT CHECK OUT Students will be able to check out and use a school instrument for the summer. This applies to the main instrument that they are currently playing, not to a second instrument in which they might interested in playing next year. This also does not apply to new students going into beginning band next year. There is NO additional Fee, but a summer instrument check out form must be completed, Mr W will be at school for the next week if you forgot to do this. Fri 6/4, 8am til 2pm. Other days call 392-2130 ext 5133 to see if he is there *************************************** *************************************** #5 FIREWORKS BOOTH For the third year, the Standard Music Boosters will be co-sponsoring a FIREWORKS BOOTH over the 4th of July
All band and guard members and their families are invited to join us for our annual BBQ and swim party on friday 8/6, 5-8pm at the NHS pool.
